BSA Troop 147

Scouting in Monrovia, California

About Troop 147

Welcome to the Troop 147 Web site.  We’re a Boy Scouts of America troop in the San Gabriel Valley Council, chartered by the Knights of Columbus in Monrovia, Calif.  Our troop is active, focusing on scouting skills, service and outdoor pursuits.  New scouts are always welcome!

What we do

At our weekly meetings, we focus on learning scouting skills and planning events.  Community service projects are an important part of scouting, so they figure prominently in our schedule by way of both troop-organized and Eagle service projects.

During the school year, we have monthly outings, usually on the third weekend of the month. They range from single-day hikes or bike rides to two-night camping or backpacking trips. Outings can be anything from car camping to backpacking, bikepacking, skiing, rock-climbing, canoeing, desert camping and beach trips. See our outings page for more information. Every summer we go to one of the area’s summer camps.  (For example, Cherry Valley and Holcomb Valley)  We have plenty of outings suitable for our youngest scouts as well as challenging high adventure trips for the older, more experienced scouts.

When and where we meet

We meet on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 130 West Pomona Avenue in Monrovia.  Our typical schedule is:

  • First Wednesday: Troop Meeting at the Knights’ Hall
  • Second Wednesday: Troop Meeting, preceded by a Green Bar Meeting at 6:15pm
